Welcome To Lure Fishing UKInformation for lure anglers based in the UKThis website first dipped its toes into cyberspace in February 1999, it is a collection of articles and information about lure angling for lure anglers. There is a section on lures including advice on building, maintaining, modifying and repairing them; a section describing tackle, techniques and stories, a sort of reviews section where a few products and services that I've used are described and an extensive links section includes four separate pages covering different categories of links. If you plan on returning regularly you will find that I periodically add new articles and links as well as revise existing articles, it would probably be a good idea to add the Updates page to your favourites, you can then quickly see if anything new has been added since your last visit. The other favourite you should consider is the Message Board where many other lure anglers discuss various issues. The final section is the gallery - just picturesI am happy to try and help on any lure fishing topic, if I cannot offer advice from personal experience I can usually recommend a course of action that might lead to the answer, or a contact who can provide assistance. No-one has experience of all aspects of lure fishing but if you use the Message Board for general enquiries you can get answers from anglers with differing experience. I first went fishing when I was five years old, that would have been in 1963, in my teens it became my main interest and I fished the local river Severn for chub and roach. I didn't catch a pike until 1988, when their constant attention to the roach I was trying to catch finally made me try for one, then I realised that I rather preferred catching 3ft long toothy things to the small roach, and a small pike is still bigger than a big roach! I started to fish with lures in 1989 but it was only as a part of my all-round angling interests, although slowly it became more and more important. These days if I go fishing then I'm lure fishing, and I'm as likely to be casting a 6oz jerkbait for pike as trolling for perch or jigging for zander, if it will take a lure then I'll fish for it. All the articles on these pages that are written by me unless another author's name appears at the top of the piece next to the heading. If you read anything here that you can add to, then let me know, I will usually append your thoughts to any article, with your name, provided they are relevant and sensible. I recommend that you join the Lure Anglers' Society, the only club dedicated to the promotion of lure angling in the UK. The L.A.S. has made a massive contribution to the sport and with our support will continue to grow and provide a forum for the advancement of all aspects of lure angling. Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with words of support. I hope that Lure Fishing UK will continue to entertain you:- keep visiting, keep e-mailing me, and most importantly - keep catching fish. Dave Pugh |
